“We had used a different company for maintenance on our gas furnace, and when the time came to replace it, we went to them first to get an estimate for replacing it with a heat pump. Their salesperson seemed fine, but did not provide a solution we were quite satisfied with – he said the unit would have to go on the front of the house, which we were less than thrilled about. He also maintained that a split would not be necessary for our spacious, high-ceilinged upstairs. We had our doubts, given that many of our friends and neighbors have needed splits.
We went to Ballard for a second estimate. Tyler seemed much more knowledgeable. Unlike the first salesman, he took out his tape measure and actually measured the distance from the side of our house to the property line, determining the unit could indeed go on the side. Yay. Upon viewing the upstairs, he told us that a split would be necessary. This made much more sense to us. The quote he provided was comparable to the other company and there was no pressure to accept.
A few days later the crew of Juan, Nick, Anthony and Aaron showed up. All four were professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. In addition, we very much appreciated how mindful they were about our two indoor-only cats, taking extra care to keep doors closed. The work was done efficiently – we had been told it would take two days but they got it done in one. That said, it was not a rush job and they took their time to make sure each part of the job was done well. They were happy to explain what they were doing any time we came by with questions.
We were surprised that the unit they installed was smaller than the tall ones several neighbors have, but so far it's doing the job just fine, and we don't doubt that Tyler knows his stuff and designed the system appropriately. Their cleanup was a little less than complete, but we have no serious issues with it. They totally deserve this five-star review. We will be recommending Ballard to others.”
